FABG Announces 2020 2021 Grant Deadlines

FINE ARTS BOOSTER GROUP SUPPORTS ITHACA CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT ARTS LEARNING DURING COVID-19 CHALLENGES – GRANT DEADLINE ANNOUNCED

The Ithaca City School District (ICSD) has developed arts education practices and guidelines for continued learning during the 2020 – 2021 school year. These practices were developed using New York State guidelines, local district and community collaboration, and national research. The Fine Arts Booster Group (FABG) will support teachers and students in these efforts with their grant programs. FABG Grants application deadlines are November 1, 2020 and February 1, 2021. Applications are available online at www.fabgithaca.org/receive , by phone 256-4734, or email FABGgrants@ipei.org. Grant applications are submitted electronically.

“District leaders and teachers have worked hard to respond to the challenges of COVID-19 parameters placed on teaching. FABG hopes to do our part in supporting students and teachers in continued creativity, safely.” Co-President Julie Hughes notes. In the spring, FABG assisted the district with a grant enabling filming and editing of performances that were shared online.

District information on arts education and other information about the COVID-19 response is updated regularly at www.ithacacityschools.org.

An affiliate of the Ithaca Public Education Initiative, the FABG works in partnership with the Ithaca City School District (ICSD) to support and celebrate all the arts for all the kids. The Fine Arts Boosters strive for increased student access and participation in arts programs. The boosters believe the arts – music, dance and visual, literary and theater arts – are a central part of every child’s public school education. Visit www.fabgithaca.org.

IPEI is a not-for-profit organization that believes the education of every ICSD student is enhanced through community connections and support facilitated by IPEI for students and teachers through engagement, collaboration, gifts, and grants. Visit www.ipei.org.

Ongoing FABG initiatives include grants to teachers, student scholarships, creating virtual programs for online secondary schools’ concerts and drama productions; strengthening community connections; fundraising; Play It Again, Ithaca (collection of used musical instruments for use in the schools); Saltonstall Arts Colony retreat for teachers; and various efforts in support of arts in the schools.
FABG is open to all K-12 staff, parents, students and community members and is concerned with all arts areas. Join the group and volunteer to work on goals – communication, grant giving, development, community connections, and instrument recycling.
