Fall 2018 Grants Awarded

FINE ARTS BOOSTER GROUP AWARDS GRANTS TO SUPPORT ITHACA ARTS EDUCATION

The Fine Arts Booster Group (FABG), an affiliate of IPEI, has awarded $4,620 in grants to 12 Ithaca City School District (ICSD) programs that will reach 1,180 students. Grant funds are made possible through Fine Arts Booster Group donations and performance programs ad sales sponsorships. The boosters produce performance booklet programs for middle and high school concerts and plays, totaling over thirty five events each year. District arts events are open to all, a calendar can be found at www.fabgithaca.org or on the district web page.
All secondary schools received Drama Program grants, including DeWitt Middle, Boynton Middle, Lehman Alternative Community, and Ithaca High. Secondary school arts trips will be supported by scholarship assistance. The Saltonstall Arts Colony received support for the annual teacher residency. A special grant was awarded to support students performing an ICSD student’s work at the New York State Schools Music Association conference. The Combined Jazz Bands will have a visiting guest artist. The Ithaca High Visual Arts students will create portraits for orphan refugees. In addition, FABG mini-grants support dance, visual artists, touring theater, and music at Ithaca High, Beverly J. Martin Elementary and Fall Creek Elementary Schools. The next FABG Mini-Grant deadline is February 1, 2019, check the Fine Arts Booster Group website at www.fabgithaca.org/receive or email FABGgrants@ipei.org. Grant support is available to classrooms in grades K-12 with deadlines in the fall and spring. Applications are submitted online. Contact FABG with questions.

An affiliate of the Ithaca Public Education Initiative (IPEI), the FABG works in partnership with the Ithaca City School District (ICSD) to advocate, support and celebrate all the arts for all the kids. The Fine Arts Boosters strive for increased student access and participation. The boosters believe the arts – music, dance and visual, literary and theater arts – are a central part of every child’s public school education. Visit www.fabgithaca.org.
