Thanks to the support of many, the music needs for one of the two schools are met. Owego Elementary received instrument donations from the Ithaca Concert Band, McNeil’s Music, Hickey’s, and dozens of private citizens like YOU in Ithaca and surrounding communities, resulting in a total of close to 70 used instruments in good working condition. With band participation at 95%, close to 150 students, Owego elementary band director, Lindsey Williams, is extremely grateful to report that she was able to begin teaching 4th and 5th grade bands last week and that they no longer need instruments with the exception of alto saxophones, but they would be grateful for continued help to purchase those along with lesson books, cleaning kits, and sheet music that was not recoverable from the flood.
Checks can be sent to Owego Elementary PTO at 1 Christa McAuliffe Lane, Owego, NY 13827.
The remaining campaign focus now turns to the still unmet needs of MacArthur Elementary. Though not a complete list they have an urgent and immediate need for the following: 2 alto saxophones, 4 clarinets, 4 flutes, 4 trumpets, 1 French horn, 2 trombones, 1 snare drum w/stand, 1 suspended cymbals
