Fall Ad Sponsorship Campaign Begins!

The Fine Arts Booster Group (FABG), an affiliate of IPEI, is seeking advertising sponsors for its 2017-18 performance program booklets for Ithaca City School District (ICSD) secondary schools’ events including concerts, dramas, and musicals at Boynton Middle School, DeWitt Middle School, Lehman Alternative Community School and Ithaca High School. Display ad space is available for sponsors who would like to support FABG activities throughout the ICSD. Contact the boosters at ads@fabgithaca.org.

Performance program ad sales support the Fine Arts Booster Group’s Mini-Grants for teachers that fund enhanced arts experiences for students. Ads are viewed year-round, in over 30 different programs on more than 50 days and with a print run of over 9,000 copies.

“Our advertisers provide essential support for arts education through our grants. Last year a grant supported a songwriter’s workshop at Fall Creek Elementary, for example. These experiences enhance FABG’s goals of ‘all the arts for all the kids,’ ” notes Co-President Alice Wu. Income from the FABG performance program ad sales has funded such things as visiting artists, a student art garden, theater supplies, a mural designed for a school hallway, and a preschool dance residency.

Since 2001, the Fine Arts Boosters have awarded over $240,000 in grants for teacher initiatives across the district. An affiliate of IPEI (Ithaca Public Education Initiative), the FABG works in partnership with the ICSD to support and celebrate all the arts for all the kids. The boosters strive for increased student access, participation and equity in the arts programs. The FABG believes the arts – music, dance and visual, literary and theater arts – are a central part of every child’s public school education. Visit www.fabgithaca.org.

IPEI is a not-for-profit organization that believes the education of every ICSD student is enhanced through community connections and support facilitated by IPEI for students and teachers through engagement, collaboration, gifts, and grants. Visit www.ipei.org.

Ongoing FABG initiatives, in addition to printing performance booklets for all concerts and drama productions in the middle and high schools, include fundraising; Play It Again, Ithaca, the collection of used musical instruments and monies to purchase new instruments for use in the schools; and various advocacy efforts in support of arts in the schools.

FABG is open to all Pre-K-12 staff, parents, students and community members. Join the group and volunteer to work on goals – communication, advocacy, grant giving, fundraising, community connections, and instrument recycling.
